Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 4 tbsp oil


  • 1 sprig curry leaves


  • 1/2 tbsp mustard seeds


  • 1/2 tbsp urad dal


  • 1 tbsp bengal gram dal


  • 4 nos green chilly(sliced)


  • 1 nos onion(chopped)


  • 1 tsp salt ,some to taste


  • 3 tbsp ginger-garlic paste


  • 2 nos tomato(finely chopped)


  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder


  • 1 1/2 tbsp chilly powder


  • 1 tbsp curd


  • 1 tsp orange colour(essence) some to taste(optional)


  • 3 cups water


  • 1 1/2 cups washed basmati rice

Directions

  • Add oil,curryleaves,mustard seeds,bengalgram dal, urad dal,greenchillies to a pan and saute it.
  • To the mix add onion, salt required and ginger-garlic paste.
  • When onion become brownish, add tomato, turmeric powder, chilly powder stir well.
  • Cook under the0 lid until the ingredients are well cooked.
  • Add curd to the mix, if u desire add orange colour,add the essence.Stir Well.
  • Add 3 cups of water and boil it.
  • To the Boiling mix add the washed basmati rice and cook under the lid.
  • Tomato Rice is ready to be served.
